About the game
You start as a prisoner on a mind flayer ship, get away and set out across the Sword Coast. Most of your time goes on talking to people, passing skill checks, exploring and fighting. Fights are turn-based, and spells, high ground and line of sight all matter. What you choose changes the quests, your companions and the story.
Up to four of you can play online, and two can share a split screen. Each player runs one hero, either one you made or a companion handed out in the session menu. You can split up, so one of you can be in a fight while another explores. Whoever starts a conversation picks the answers, and the rest can suggest them. Crossplay works between PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
A full run takes many evenings, and with four players you will wait for turns. It suits groups who enjoy tabletop role-playing and like to talk and plan.
