    About the game

You play the spirits of an island that settlers are trying to take over. Each spirit has its own board, powers and way of growing. Every round you build up your spirit, play power cards, and then watch the settlers spread, build and damage the land. Their next steps show a few rounds ahead, so you can plan how to stop them.

Co-op works much like it does at a table. Everyone shares one island, and the group decides who covers which land and in what order to play powers. You can play alone, pass and play on one screen, or go online with players on other systems, including iOS and Android. The base game has up to four spirits, and the Jagged Earth expansion raises that to six.

Games are long and hard, so expect to lose a few while you learn it. It suits friends who like to think things through together, not a loud night of jokes.

      • Local co-op: Key features say you can play solo or pass and play with friends, locally or through Steam Remote Play Together.
      • Most players online: The base game lets you control one to four Spirits. The maker says six players need the Jagged Earth expansion, so six is the cap with it.
      • Crossplay: Key features list online multiplayer across platforms, and Steam shows its cross-platform category.
      • About: Nature spirits with magic fight colonizers on an island. Nothing in our theme list fits closely, so fantasy adventure is the nearest.
      • Kind of game: A digital copy of a tabletop game. User tags include Board Game and Tabletop.
      • Sessions: The page lists over 78,000 possible setups. One game is a self-contained scenario that you set up again each time.
      • Fighting: User tags include Destruction and Turn-Based Tactics. You use your powers to drive the settlers out, but it is area control on a map and not fight scenes.
      • Planning ahead: User tags include Strategy, Grand Strategy and Turn-Based Tactics.
      • Story: The page sets the game in an alternate world around the year 1700. That is a setting and not a story you follow.
