About the game
A pandemic has shut down New York, and you play a Division agent sent in to take the city back. Most of the time you pick up story missions, side jobs and street encounters across the open map. You shoot from behind cover, drop turrets and healing gadgets, and keep swapping in better weapons and armor.
You can play solo or in a group of four. Friends join from the menu, and the game can match you with strangers at safe houses. Missions adjust their enemies to the size of your group. Turrets and healing stations help everyone nearby, so you pick a spot together and hold it.
After the story ends, the game is about loot. You replay missions on harder settings and visit the Dark Zone, a risky area where other players can turn on you. It needs an internet connection even when you play alone. It suits a group that likes steady gear upgrades.
