About the game
The dead have risen and you lead a small group of survivors through a ruined countryside. You drive out to empty houses of food, fuel and ammo, then return to a base you fortify and upgrade. Nights are very dark and zombies can appear without warning. A survivor who dies is gone for good.
Up to three friends can join your game online and help you scavenge and fight off hordes. They play as guests in your community. You manage the base, and they take some loot and rewards home to their own communities. Xbox and PC players can join each other. A separate mode, Daybreak, has up to four players hold out against waves of zombies.
It is a steady game to play while you talk, with tension in bursts and downtime between. Guests mostly help the host, so it suits a group happy to play in one person's world.
