About the game
You start on an empty plot of land. You hunt, chop wood, plant crops and build a hut, then a farm, then a whole village. Winters are cold and hunger is real, so you plan ahead. People move in and you give them homes and jobs. Over the years you marry, have children and pass the village to an heir.
Co-op runs on the Oxbow map, which also plays solo. Up to four of you build the same village and decide who hunts, who trades and who builds. Online play works across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The older Valley map is single player only.
Once the village runs, the pace is slow and calm. Chopping and hauling leave room to talk, and the difficulty sliders can turn the cold, hunger and bandits down. It suits a small group that likes building more than fighting.
