About the game
You command human forces in a war against the alien Covenant, set 20 years before the first Halo game. In each mission you build a base on fixed spots, train marines and vehicles, and send them out to attack or hold a position. Fog of war hides the map, so you scout with small units before you commit your army. The campaign has 15 missions.
Online co-op is for two players, and every mission can be played together. One of you can handle the base while the other manages the troops, so you split the work between you. Skirmish matches can be played in co-op too.
The strategy stays simple, with a few unit types and a low unit limit. That suits two Halo fans who want an easygoing real-time game. Copies from Steam and from the Microsoft Store cannot play online together, so check which copy your partner owns.
